Play Area - Winter 08/09
Our younger visitors will now be able to try out the new exciting additions to the play area which compliment our existing Playdale “Jukebox” equipment installed a couple years ago. We have added some lower level equipment to enhance the range of opportunities for play whilst being the safest on the market, with all the new equipment complying with the latest

Fishing - Winter 08/09
After a great deal of thought, planning and effort over the year by our resident experts, our Moss Wood pond should be ready for fishing next March. Pond side flora and fauna such as Bog Myrtle, Phragmites, Rush, Iris, and Lilies are well established. Wild Mallard ducks successfully nested at the pond this year, whilst Mute Swans, Tufted Duck and Water hens are frequent visitors. Water boatmen, whirligig beetles, pond skaters, demoiselle and dragon flies are in profusion. Frogs, tadpoles, water snails, beetles and daphnia together with a good cross section of typical pond life have colonised the new habitat.
We have recently introduced over eighty mature rainbow trout to the pond which are currently really thriving, however depending on demand, it has been suggested that next year these might be changed for a selection of coarse fish. Whatever happens, there will be a nominal charge for this fishing facility and you will need a rod licence. Watch this space for more information.
Extended Season? - Winter 08/09
Recently there have been requests to extend the season. If a sufficient number of caravan owners are interested the current proposal would extend the season for an extra month. Please let us know your thoughts by telephone 01524 791041 or email at info@mosswood.co.uk. If demand is sufficient and the season extended, (subject to Planning and Site Licence consent), it would still not permit permanent residence in any caravan nor could the caravan be a “prime residence”. Please note the Park will remain open for ‘Halloween’ weekend, Friday 31st October & Saturday 1st November , re-opening 1st March when we look forward to welcoming you in 2009.
Awards - Oct 08
We have just been informed that once again Moss Wood has been awarded Five Stars in the “Visit Britain” Grading Scheme’, and received yet another ‘GOLD’ in the David Bellamy Conservation Award Scheme. These awards are subject to rigorous annual inspection by independent assessors annually and do not take into consideration the previous years results. Due to hard work we have always attained the highest awards in both schemes since their introduction many years ago and we regard both schemes as the bench mark for an unbiased comparison with our competitors.
Weather - Oct 08
We are all aware of the exceptional amount of rainfall since May this year and the effect on the ground. Thank you all for your understanding about parking cars off the grass, we know it is sometimes inconvenient, but it has really helped. The ‘lads’ have been working hard all Summer to move the water by jetting the drainage systems, and making improvements for flushing the water into the main dykes faster. Work to improve water drainage will continue over the winter. The Environment Agency could have helped more if they had played their part in proper maintenance of their main water courses. However, work which was once done continuously and carefully by expert hand, is now carried out only occasionally and by a machine. It is supposed to be beneficial to the environment!
Bank Holiday Weekend - Oct 08
A good DJ, Karaoke, plenty of wine and beer combined with fun and games made the Bank Holiday weekend memorable (despite the weather). It is really great to have such an enthusiastic bunch bringing the Bank Holiday event together. We won’t mention any names because we all know who you are. Everyone we met afterwards had a good time. The great effort made by all concerned is very much appreciated.
March 08
Wild flowers can now start to be seen in our wild flower borders & butterfly borders are Corn cockle, Cornflower, Foxglove, Red Campion, Field Scabious, Ox-eye Daisy, Evening Primrose, & Lesser Knapweed.

April 08
The place is alive with birds gathering Twigs and Moss to build nests from dawn till dusk it's like watching planes arrive and depart at Heathrow as the birds track backwards and forwards.
June 08
Our small lake which was built last year is starting to take shape with pioneer plants covering the ground around the margins. Subject to permission from the Environment Agency we will be looking to stock it with fish this year.
A great thing happened only last night when Chris and I were watching the insect life on the water and Swallows scooping them up. We watched with fascination the Damsel flies, resting on vegetation near water and drifting through the air, with their vivid colors they were just fantastic to watch.
Also another sucess is the first breeing pair of Mallard on the island, thay have hatched nine duckings who are great to watch.
Tourers
They say the economy is going wrong and everyone is tightening their belts, well may be so but we have never been as busy for Tourers. Some people are travelling only thirty minutes to get to us on a weekend, people who in the past would have travelled a lot further. ...Interesting stuff, we are really pleased to see them.
July 08
Yesterday we had a visit from The David Bellamy Award Scheme assessor, there is a lot more paperwork this year as David’s son Rufus is now involved in the scheme and is putting some more emphasis on Sustainability rather than Ecology.
