    • Can I have parcels delivered to the park?

      Only in exceptional circumstances can you have parcels delivered to you at Moss Wood. It wouldn’t be safe or desirable for the peaceful atmosphere we value at Moss Wood to have a lot of large delivery vehicles driving onto the park.
    • What security measures do you have in place on the park?

      Moss Wood has wardens on the park at almost all times. We also have CCTV covering the entrance and other key areas to ensure the security of our guests and static holiday caravans. The park has a single entrance which has an automatic security barrier which is accessible only to guests outside of daytime hours.

      Of course, we might be biased, but we think Moss Wood Caravan Park is one of the best places to own a holiday home in Lancashire! As a small, family-owned park, we’re able to offer exemplary customer service and a personal approach, which can be difficult to achieve in larger parks. Over the years we’ve worked hard to foster an excellent community spirit and friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Neighbours look out for each other and socialise of their own accord. We’re continually investing in our facilities and looking for ways to improve our offering. The team are committed to creating a tranquil environment, where holiday home owners can retreat and spend quality time together. One of the things that really sets us apart from other parks is our focus on the natural environment. The Park is set in a picturesque countryside location, which provides access to scenic walks and our popular nature trail. Our rural location is well suited to wildlife enthusiasts and lovers of the great outdoors.
    • Is Moss Wood part of a caravan park group?

      No, Moss Wood is an independent holiday park – it is owned by Henry Wild and family. Our sister park, Skelwith Fold is located in Ambleside in the Lake District.
    • Do you have picnic tables?

      Yes, we do have picnic tables. You can book one to be placed next to your touring caravan pitch for your exclusive use for £10 for up to a week.
    • What public transport is near the park?

      There is a bus stop 1 mile walk from the park's entrance. Please ask reception for an up to date timetable (not a regular service).
    • Do any mobile food vans visit the site?

      Yes, we have food vans visit the park on a regular basis - approximately every other week. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for more information, or pop into our reception and speak to our friendly team.
    • Can I arrange a supermarket delivery to the park?

      No, we do not permit supermarket deliveries to the park. We stock a range of essentials in our on-site shop and there are larger supermarkets in Garstang.
    • Can I fly my drone at Moss Wood Caravan Park?

      You are only permitted to fly a drone with a licence and following UK legislation (i.e not close to people or property).
    • Can I bring a motorbike?

      Yes, you are more than welcome to bring a motorbike with you.
    • Who do I contact for a maintenance issue?

      Please report any maintenance issues to reception in person or by calling 01524 791041. You could also visit the on-duty Warden's lodge, which is located near reception. A sign will be u p to show who is on duty.
    • Can I order takeaway food to the park?

      Yes, you are more than welcome to order takeaway food to the park. This must be collected at the park entrance. Please pop into reception and ask for a list of takeaways that deliver to us.
    • Can friends visit us when we're holidaying at Moss Wood?

      Yes, your friends are more than welcome to visit you during your holiday at Moss Wood. We kindly as that they check in at reception on arrival, so we know how many people are on park.
    • What do I need on arrival?

      When arriving at Moss Wood Caravan Park please report to reception. You will need to tell the reception team your full name so they can access your booking. They can then complete the check in process.
    • Do I pay for my stay at the time of booking?

      A deposit is required to secure your pitch at the time of booking. During high and peak season, the balance is required at least 14 days prior to your arrival. Failure to pay could jeopardise your booking. For stays outside of high season you can pay the balance on arrival at Moss Wood Caravan Park. We do however encourage full payment prior to arrival, to speed up the check in process and enable you to start enjoying your well-earned break as quickly as possible! Please take a look at our tariff to see whether your chosen dates fall into low, high or peak season.
    • How can I book a holiday at Moss Wood Caravan Park?

      You can book a stay at Moss Wood Caravan Park online. All of our caravan and motorhome pitches are available to book via our website 24 hours a day. If you’d prefer to speak with our friendly reception team, you are more than welcome to book over the phone. Our reception is open 9am – 5pm every day.
    • Do you offer short breaks?

      Yes, it is possible to book short breaks at Moss Wood Caravan Park. Lancashire is a wonderful place to holiday, whatever the season. We’re conveniently located for guests wanting to the escape the hustle and bustle of the city for a long weekend by the coast. There are a number of picturesque towns and villages nearby as well as fantastic family friendly attractions. You’ll find plenty to keep you entertained for a couple of days. In fact, you’ll probably want to return to explore our surroundings even more. During low season the minimum stay is one night. In high and peak season a two night stay is required.
    • We host a number of events throughout the year. These include guided nature walks and family fun days.
    • Do we have to book a pitch in advance or can we just turn up?

      We highly recommend booking your stay in advance, especially if it falls within the school or bank holidays. During high and peak season, we get very busy and our touring pitches are often fully booked a couple of months in advance. From time to time, we can accommodate same day arrivals, however, this is dependent on availability. Sign up to our email list to stay up to date with last minute availability and offers.
    • What accommodation do you have at Moss Wood?

      What accommodation do you have at Moss Wood?

      Moss Wood is an award-winning holiday park situated in an idyllic countryside location near Lancaster. We have 31 spacious touring pitches suitable for caravans, campervans, trailer tents and motorhomes. We do not have any static caravans available to hire, however we do have a selection of privately owned holiday homes.     • What is your cancellation policy?

      We will make a refund on a booking up to 14 days before the day of stay less a £15 deposit for administration, after this period a refund will not be made. See our touring terms and conditions for more information.
    • Do we need travel insurance?

      We recommend having valid insurance whenever you travel (abroad or in the UK) for added peace of mind.
    • Where can I leave a review after my holiday?

    • Where can I view the park map?

      We have an interactive park map available to view online. It’s a really handy way to view the location of our facilities in relation to our touring pitches. On a desktop computer you can hover over the orange numbers to find out more about each of the facilities.
    • What awards have you won?

      Moss Wood Caravan Park has been the proud recipient of numerous industry awards over the years. These awards are testament to the hard work and dedication of our team, who work tirelessly to ensure caravan park guests and holiday home owners have an enjoyable time on park. We have been finalists in the Lancashire Tourism Awards on numerous occasions and were finalists in the Dog Friendly Awards in 2018. We have been awarded the Gold David Bellamy Conservation Award for more than 20 consecutive years and have been recognised as a Honey Bee Friendly Park by the British Holiday and Home Parks Association.
    • Do you have any other holiday parks?

      We have a sister holiday park in the Lake District – Skelwith Fold Caravan Park. Like Moss Wood, it is set in a stunning location with a wealth of things to do in the local area. A range of accommodation is on offer including touring, luxury glamping and holiday homes for hire.
    • Can I charge an electric car on site?

      We do not have electric car charging facilities on site. The nearest place to charge your vehicle is a 15-minute drive at Booths in Garstang. The address is Cherestanc Square, Park Hill Road, Garstang, Preston PR3 1EF. There are plenty of car charging points across Lancashire.
    • Is there a speed limit on site?

      We respectfully ask guests to observe our 5mph speed limit when driving around the site. We’re a family friendly park and children play around the grounds. Please be alert at all times and be aware of cyclists, pedestrians and children.
    • Can my children use bikes and scooters around the park?

      The use of scooters, bikes, skateboards etc. is permitted at the owner’s discretion and risk.  
    • Do you have recycling bins on the park?

      We take great pride in the environment at Moss Wood Caravan Park and work hard to minimise our impact wherever possible. We have won numerous awards for our commitment to sustainability and endeavour to recycle as much waste as possible. You will find recycling facilities next to reception where you can recycle cans, newspapers and glass bottles. Refuge should be bagged and placed in the green Eurobins around the site. Please do not leave bags outside your caravans. This may attract wildlife.
    • What is your smoking policy?

      Smoking is prohibited in all of our indoor facilities. Please smoke or vape outside and away from any flammable materials. Be mindful of other guests and dispose of cigarette buts responsibly.
    • Is there any entertainment on site?

      We do not have an entertainment venue and there is no live music or performances. From time to time, we host family friendly events at Moss Wood Caravan Park. These involve nature walks and family fun days. Moss Wood is a quiet, family friendly holiday park. We occupy a scenic location in the heart of the Lancashire countryside and encourage guests to spend time outdoors, exploring our beautiful surroundings
    • What is your noise policy?

      Please be respectful to other guests and keep noise to a minimum after dusk. We want all guests to be able to enjoy a relaxing stay. Strictly no noise after 10pm. Noisy guests may be asked to leave by the park management.
    • Can we play ball games?

      Ball games are permitted in the recreational field behind the reception. We kindly ask guests not to play ball games between caravans so that other guests are not disturbed.
    • Do you host any events?

      We host a number of events throughout the year. These include guided nature walks and family fun days.
    • When is the park open?

      Moss Wood Caravan Park is open from 1st March to 31st October each year.
    • Are children allowed on the park?

      Yes! We are family friendly holiday park and welcome children onsite. We have plenty of child friendly facilities for your children to enjoy during a touring holiday in Lancaster. There's also a woodland walk and a nature trail.
    • Can we have a BBQ on site?

      Absolutely, when the weather allows for it! We do ask that you use a raised BBQ rather than one that sits directly on the grass. We do not permit bonfires.
    • Can I bring more than one car?

      Yes, you are more than welcome to bring more than one car. Additional cars are charged at £5 per night and must be parked in the car park.
    • Can I park next to my caravan?

      Yes, you are permitted to park one car next to your caravan. Additional cars must be parked in the car park.
    • Do you have any pitches suitable for RV's?

      Yes, we can accommodate RV's. Please let our reception team know at the time of booking so that they can allocate the appropriate pitch.
    • How many people can stay on my pitch?

      Up to 6 people are permitted per touring/motorhome pitch. If your party exceeds this occupancy you will need to book additional pitches.
    • Can I reserve a specific pitch?

      You can request a specific pitch and we will try our best to honour your request, however we cannot guarantee it will be possible.
    • Do you cater for rallies?

      No, i'm afraid we cannot cater for rallies at Moss Wood Caravan Park.
    • Can I book more than one pitch?

      Yes, you are more than welcome to book more than one touring pitch.
    • How old do you have to be to book a stay at Moss Wood?

      The lead guest needs to be 21 at the time of booking to book a stay at Moss Wood Caravan Park.
    • What time can I check in to my touring pitch?

      Your touring pitch will be available from 2pm on the day of arrival. You must arrive before 8pm when the gate is locked. Access after this time may not be possible.
    • What time must I depart my touring pitch?

      We kindly ask you to vacate your touring pitch at 12 midday on the day of your departure unless alternate arrangements have been made with our reception team in advance.
    • Do you offer early check in?

      During quieter periods it may be possible arrive at Moss Wood early and check in from 10am. Please speak with our reception team in advance to discuss.
    • What happens if we arrive after the park has closed?

      If you are stuck in traffic or unable to arrive before 8pm please let us know in advance by calling reception. We will try our best to accommodate you.
    • What type of pitches do you have?

      All of our touring pitches are hardstanding and come with electric hook up, drainage and water as standard. They are set within 30 acres of well-maintained grounds with grass surrounds. There is ample room for manoeuvring and plenty of space between you and your neighbours. All of the pitches at Moss Wood can accommodate an awning. There is no additional charge for awnings.
    • What is included in the pitch fee?

      All of our pitches come with electric hook up, drainage and water. Prices are based on two adults and one towing vehicle per pitch. Guests can make use of our on-site facilities (fishing lake £4 per 24 hours) and have access to 1gb of free WiFi (£15 per 15gb thereafter). There will be an additional fee for extra guests. You will also be required a small fee per dog.     • What amp are the electric hook ups?

      All of our touring pitches come with 16 Amp electric hook up.
    • Can I put an awning or gazebo up?

      Awnings are permitted on our touring pitches and there is no additional fee for this. We do not permit gazebos or any other tents between caravans.
    • Do you accept tents?

      We do not offer camping at Moss Wood Caravan Park. We only accept touring caravans, motorhomes, campervans and trailer tents.
    • Do you have seasonal pitches?

      Yes, we have seasonal pitches at Moss Wood Caravan Park. Seasonal pitches are an excellent choice for tourers looking to enjoy multiple holidays throughout the year. Our live-in wardens are onsite 24/7 will keep an eye on your caravan when it is not in use. We typically reserve 10 of our touring pitches for seasonal pitches each year. Our seasonal pitches benefit from hardstanding, electric hook up, water and drainage and can be used from March to November. Awnings can be left up all season. There is an annual fee for seasonal pitches. This includes VAT water and waste. Electricity is metered. Our touring pitches are always in demand and there is often a waiting list. Please call our reception to enquire about pricing and availability.
    • Do you store caravans?

      Winter storage is available at Moss Wood Caravan Park during the closed season (November to the end of February). There is annual fee for this service. Caravans will remain on our touring pitches over winter. Our live-in wardens will keep an eye on your caravan’s external security and the entrance to the park is covered by CCTV. Customers are not permitted to stay on the park over winter but it is possible to make an appointment to come and check on your van. We cannot accept responsibility of any internal faults.
    • How much is holiday home insurance?

      Holiday home insurance varies depending on the provider and make, model and condition of your caravan. You should budget at least £150 per year.
    • Do I need holiday home insurance?

      Yes, static caravan insurance is essential when owning a holiday home at Moss Wood Caravan Park in Lancashire, so it’s important to budget for this cost when considering ownership. Having appropriate holiday home insurance is a condition of your Site Licence Agreement. We will request a copy of your insurance certificate.
    • What holiday home insurance do you recommend?

      At Moss Wood we work with Compass Insurance as we recommend them to our customers. They have a great deal of experience working in our industry and we find them to be good for our customers. However, you are very welcome to shop around for insurance from another provider – although we will need a copy of your proof of insurance for your holiday home. Moss Wood Caravan Park Ltd is an Appointed Representative of Bspoke Lifestyle Ltd and is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, FRN; 415807.     • Do you offer holiday home insurance?

      No, we do not offer holiday home insurance directly, however we can recommend a number of trusted providers, including Compass. It’s probably best to get a couple of quotes.
    • Are there finance options available?

      At Moss Wood Caravan Park, we do not offer finance options. However, you are welcome to seek finance from any provider to pay for your holiday home if necessary. You will need to declare this on your Purchase Agreement with us, if relevant.
    • How do I buy a replacement gas bottle?

      Replacement gas bottles are ordered from Moss Wood Reception and will be delivered to you by 6pm. Please order before 3pm for delivery on the same day.
    • How are utilities charged?

      Electricity is metered and charged per unit at the end of the season. OFGEM heavily regulates how these charges are issued and the park is not allowed to sell this at a profit. Gas is sold in 19kg bottles. You will have two gas bottles connected to your holiday home at any time to ensure you don’t run out. Your first two bottles will be provided to you with your new holiday home. As of August 2023 these bottles are £38 each but be aware that this is subject to change at little or no notice according to the cost to us from our supplier. Water is included within your pitch fees.
    • How much do I need to budget for utilities?

      As gas is by the bottle and electricity is metered, this will depend entirely on your usage. It will also be impacted by the insulation and efficiency of your holiday home. As a general rule, the more recent the manufacture the cheaper it is to run – however the most efficient holiday homes are those built to a “residential specification”.
    • Do site fees increase each year?

      Site fees are reassessed on an annual basis in line with inflation and park enhancements.
    • When are the site fees due?

      If paying up front, the fees are due by 1st March each year. If paid in full before the end of January, you will receive an £80 early payment discount. If paying monthly, 10% of the pitch fees are due each month from January to October inclusive on the 28th of the month.
    • How do I pay the site fees?

      Site fees can be paid upfront by debit or credit card, cheque, cash or BACs transfer. The site fees can also be paid monthly via standing order over ten months from January to October inclusive.
    • What do the site fees include?

      Site fees go towards maintenance of communal facilities around the park at Moss Wood. They also include your water usage, grounds maintenance, sewerage, land drainage and waste management.
    • How much are the annual site fees?

      As a holiday home owner, you will be required to pay a site fee. Site fees go towards the upkeep of the park to ensure it is well maintained and a pleasant environment for all owners. Site fees vary depending on the size of the pitch and location. Pitch fees are currently £2,590 for a standard pitch or £2,990 for a premium pitch (correct for 2023 season). These are assessed every year in line with inflation.
    • Will I pay stamp duty when buying a holiday home?

      No, caravan holiday home purchases at Moss Wood Caravan Park in Lancashire are exempt from stamp duty.
    • Do I need to pay council tax?

      No, you do not need to pay council tax for your static caravan at Moss Wood Caravan Park. Holiday caravans cannot be used as a primary residence; therefore, council tax is not applicable. However, you will be charged “Local Authority Rates” once per year. This will be set annually according the rates charged to the park by Lancaster City Council and billed to you through the park. For 2023 this was £219.40.
    • What happens on hand over day?

      We will take you to your new holiday home and talk you through how everything works – such as the gas, water, electric etc. We will answer all of your questions before we hand you the keys to your new pride and joy!
    • When is the full balance of my holiday home due?

      The full balance of your static holiday caravan must be confirmed by us as received any time prior to the hand over of the holiday home when you take possession.
    • Is there a cooling off period if I change my mind?

      Yes, there is a cooling off period, if you change your mind about your purchase of our static holiday caravans any time between the initial agreement between us until you take possession of your new holiday home three weeks later.
    • What deposit do I need to pay to secure my holiday home?

      To secure your holiday home, we may ask for an initial deposit. The value of this deposit will depend on the value of your new holiday home and the work required for us to ready it for you to take possession. This will rarely exceed £5,000. Your deposit will form a part of your full payment for your holiday home. This will be fully refundable should you not go ahead with the purchase, unless you are told otherwise.
    • Does my holiday home come with a warranty?

      Yes. All static holiday caravans sold by Moss Wood come with a warranty unless you are specifically informed otherwise. Our standard warranty for any used holiday home you purchase is for three months. New holiday homes are covered by a minimum of a one year warranty, with different manufacturers providing different warranty coverage beyond this point.
    • Will my holiday home have WiFi connection?

      While WiFi is available across the park at Moss Wood, you may not always receive a WiFi signal inside your holiday home. You may find that if you need a stronger or faster internet connection, you can get a better connection with a mobile router available from most mobile phone companies.
    • Can I have Sky TV in my holiday home?

      Yes at Moss Wood Caravan Park, you can have a sky dish installed on your holiday home and watch Sky TV according to the package you have with Sky.
    • Do I need a TV licence for my holiday home?

      You need to purchase a TV licence for your static caravan if there is someone watching live TV at the same time in your main residence.
    • Do you host any owners events?

      Yes, we host regular events for holiday home owners throughout the season. This is a great way for owners to get to know each other and make lasting friendships with owners on neighbouring pitches. Previous events have included guided wildlife walks, family fun days and live music in our outdoor marquee.
    • Can I hire in external tradesman?

      While we have tradesmen who we recommend, you are able to hire external tradesmen yourself if you prefer. However, be aware that you will need to notify us in advance. They will need to provide us with their insurance details along with any other documentation necessary to ensure they are safe to work on the park.
    • What do I need to do at the end of the season?

      We kindly ask owners to prepare static caravans for winter closure at the end of the season at Moss Wood Caravan Park in Lancashire. You must drain down your holiday home so that water doesn’t freeze in the pipes. You can do this yourself, or one of our maintenance team can do this for as part of our drain-down service. Owners are encouraged to remove valuables over winter and to air out cupboards or enclosed spaces.
    • Will I need to carry out my own maintenance?

      We encourage owners to carry out regular maintenance to ensure your static holiday caravans at Moss Wood are in good working order. We kindly ask that owners keep the exterior of the property clean and presentable – this is part of the Site Licence Agreement. We have an excellent maintenance team at Moss Wood who are available to assist with any work that needs doing. This is charged at an hourly rate. We also offer a ‘drain down’ service, should you need any help preparing your home for the closed period over winter.
    • What happens if I want to sell my holiday home?

      If you decide that you want to sell your holiday home at Moss Wood Caravan Park, you must first notify in writing. We will then make you an offer to buy your holiday home from you. You can accept our offer, or you can choose to sell your holiday home privately.
    • What happens at the end of the Site Licence Agreement?

      At the end of the initial Licence Agreement with us, you will move to a rolling annual Licence Agreement. This will be renewed subject to your holiday home being maintained to a standard where it doesn’t represent a hazard or an eyesore for your neighbours on the park.
    • How long is the Site Licence Agreement?

      Your initial Licence Agreement will take you to the end of the twelfth year of your holiday home’s manufacture (eg. if it was built in 2020 your initial agreement will run to 31st December 2032)
    • Do I own the land my lodge or holiday home is on?

      No, at Moss Wood Caravan Park in Lancashire, you do not own the land the home is on. You own the static caravan with a Site Licence Agreement.
    • Can I have parcels delivered to the park?

      Only in exceptional circumstances can you have parcels delivered to you at Moss Wood. It wouldn’t be safe or desirable for the peaceful atmosphere we value at Moss Wood to have a lot of large delivery vehicles driving onto the park.
    • Do you have any accessible holiday homes for sale?

      We don’t have any accessible holiday homes for sale at the present time, however, it is sometimes possible to employ external contractors to make adaptions to your home after purchase. Any changes to the outside of your home need to be agreed with park management in advance. Alternatively, we can work with you to order a bespoke park home directly from the manufacturer.
    • Can I move my existing holiday home from another park to Moss Wood Caravan Park?

      It is possible to move your existing holiday home from another park to Moss Wood if we have a suitable vacant pitch for you. However, if there are no pitches available and you are interested in a pitch at Moss Wood, we may be able to assist you with a part exchange on your current holiday home or touring caravan to help you take ownership of a new holiday home with us.
    • Does my holiday home come fully furnished?

      Yes, our new static holiday caravans in Lancashire come fully furnished, so you don’t need to worry about buying new furniture for your holiday home at Moss Wood. Beds, sofas, storage and appliances are supplied as standard. You will, of course, need to invest in your own soft furnishings, décor pieces and kitchen crockery, pots and pans.

    • Can I choose where to site my holiday home on-park?

      In most cases, your static caravan at Moss Wood will already be located on the best pitch available for it and there is usually only limited scope to change this.
    • Do you sell pre-owned holiday homes?

      Yes, we regularly have pre-owned holidays homes for sale at our holiday park in Lancashire. Buying a used static caravan is a fantastic option for prospective home owners, considering ownership at Moss Wood. Pre-owned caravans are typically more cost effective, which is great if you’ve got a smaller budget.     • What do you need from me in order to buy a holiday home?

      To buy a holiday home at Moss Wood, we will need confirmation of your home address and your contact details.       Yes, we always have a small selection of holiday homes for sale in Lancashire on-site, but you are more than welcome to order a static caravan of your choosing to be sited on a vacant pitch, if a suitable pitch is available.       Of course, you can upgrade your holiday home at Moss Wood Caravan Park. Many of our longstanding holiday home owners have upgraded their static caravans to newer models. Often, new owners choose a pre-owned holiday home before committing to a more expensive model with time. If you’d like to upgrade your existing static caravan to a newer, or larger model, please pop into reception.     • How long is the season at Moss Wood Caravan Park?

      Moss Wood Caravan Park is open from 1st March to 31st October each year. Owners are not permitted to use their holiday homes during the closed season, but our holiday park wardens are on-site daily for your peace of mind. You can stop by to check on your property in the close season by appointment.

      Yes, you can park next to your holiday home at Moss Wood Caravan Park in Lancashire. There is parking for one car next to all of our privately owned caravans. Visitors and any other additional cars can park in the main car park, next to reception.

      We highly recommend a visit to Moss Wood Caravan Park when considering holiday home ownership in Lancashire. During the tour you can view our static caravans for sale and spend some time walking around our tranquil grounds and facilities. Visiting in person is a great way to get a feel for the park and specific park home models. You can decide whether the park is right for you and narrow down your holiday home requirements.     • Can I sell my holiday home privately?

      Yes, depending on the terms of your licence agreement. As a general rule of thumb this will allow you to do so up to the caravan's twelfth anniversary with a 15% commission to the park. The park will have first refusal on the caravan.
    • How long can I stay when I visit?

      We do not have a specific limit, but our caravans are holiday homes and cannot be used as a permanent residence in any way.
    • Are pets allowed?

      Absolutely! We’re a dog friendly park and welcome dogs to stay in our privately owned holiday homes.
    • How much do your holiday homes cost?

      There is not a set starting price. All of our holiday homes for sale varying in price depending on the make, model and age. We stock new and pre-owned caravans to ensure there is something to satisfy all tastes and budgets.
    • What if you don’t have the caravan I’m looking for?

      We only have a small selection of holiday homes for sale at any one time and often there’s a waiting list. We recommend taking a look at our up-to-date list of our static caravans for sale to see what we have available. If nothings quite right, please get in touch and speak with a member of our friendly team. You can discuss your requirements and we can see what we can do to help.
    • Can I live in my holiday home?

      No – it is not possible to use your holiday home as your permanent residence. We are licensed as a holiday park, so you can only use your static caravan for leisure – and not residential – purposes. You can spend as much time at Moss Wood as you like during the open season, and many of our guests come every weekend or stay for several weeks at a time in the summer. After all, where could be better to spend your downtime?
    • What is the difference between a standard and premium pitch?

      Our premium holiday home pitches are located in the New Field and have more space per pitch than our standard pitches.
    • Are there any other costs to consider with owning a holiday home?

      Our annual holiday home pitch fees at Moss Wood are £2590 for a standard pitch or £2990 for a premium pitch (for the 2023 season). This is payable on 1st March - we do offer an early payment discount of £80 if payment is received before 1st February. Local Authority Rates are around £181.86 (2022 rate) and are due around July. Insurance is necessary for all holiday homes on the park. We can make it easy for you to insure your happy place, with no phone calls to insurers or websites.  We can offer you a competitive quote from Compass Insurance, put you on cover and help support you with claims. You are of course free to shop around for the best deal if you wish.       No, we do not allow you to rent out your holiday home. However, you can let your friends and family use it for free - they will be very welcome to join us at Moss Wood!

      Visitors are very welcome to come and see you at your holiday home and there is parking by reception available for them should they need it.
    • When can I use my holiday home?

      You can use your holiday home from March 1st to 31st October every year.
    • What’s included in the price of a holiday home?

      The price quoted for your holiday home will include all of the carpets, furnishings, and fitted kitchen appliances. Unless otherwise stated, all prices on our website and brochures include siting, pitch preparation, caravan transport and all service connections to the caravan. If you are buying a new holiday home, you may also want to ask about optional extras such as enhanced insulation or decking.
    • How can I tell if the park is right for me?

      We always recommend that you visit several parks to get a feel for what is on offer. This should give you a good idea of whether you feel like Moss Wood would be the best place for your holiday home. If you wish, we would be happy for you to talk to some existing owners about their experience.
    • How far afield should I look for a holiday home?

      To get the most out of holiday home ownership, many people choose a park location no further than two or three hours’ drive from where they live.
    • What does reception open and close at Moss Wood Caravan Park?

      The Reception at Moss Wood is open from 9am to 5pm every day during the open season (1st March to 31st October), and from 10am to 4pm from Monday to Friday during the close season (1st November to 28th February).
    • What time is the shop open?

      Our on-site shop is open 9am - 5pm, occasionally later at different times of year.
    • How much does it cost to use the laundry?

      Our onsite laundrette contains washers, dryers an ironing board and iron. It costs £2 per wash and £2 per dry to use these facilities. We kindly ask guests to collect washing or drying as soon as the cycle is finished to free the machine up for other guests.
    • Do you have freezing facilities on site?

      No, unfortunately we do not have any freezing facilities available for touring guests to use at Moss Wood Caravan Park.
    • What facilities are there at Moss Wood Caravan Park?

      Moss Wood is widely considered one of the best holiday parks in Lancashire. We’ve been independently rated 5-star and many guests return year on year to enjoy our facilities. We have modern and well-maintained amenities block with laundrette for our touring guests to use. There’s also a well-stocked shop selling local produce and a trust library. Outside you’ll find two children’s play parks and a recreational field for ball games and exercising dogs off lead. We also have a woodland walk, which is carpeted with bluebells in the spring and a nature trail, where you might catch a glimpse of some of our local wildlife. Our private fishing lake is a favourite with anglers.
    • Do you have WiFi?

      Every guest can access 1gb of free Wifi across the Moss Wood Caravan Park site. Thereafter it is charged at £15 per 15gb. Please note, our Wifi is suitable for browsing the internet only. To ensure all guests have connectivity we do not recommend streaming TV shows, movies etc or downloading large files.
    • Do you offer bike hire?

      We don’t offer bike hire onsite, however there are bike hire facilities in nearby Lancaster. We recommend Leisure Lakes Bikes, On Yer Bike Cycles and The Edge Cycleworks.
    • Where does the woodland walk go?

      Guests can take a leisurely stroll through our woodland walk during a stay at Moss Wood Caravan Park. The scenic pathway cuts through mature woodland and looks spectacular whatever the season. In the autumn the trees turn beautiful shades of orange and brown and in the spring the ground is carpeted with bluebells. The woodland walk can be found at the top of the recreational field, which is situated behind the shop building. The walk lasts approximately half a kilometre and cuts through our grounds.
    • Do you have any books I can borrow?

      You can borrow books from our trust library, located at the back of the shop in our reception. There are a range of adult and children’s titles to choose from as well as DVD’s. Borrowing books is free of charge, all that we ask that you return them before you head home. Or, if you haven’t finished reading it, please leave one in its place.
    • What wildlife can I see on the nature trail?

      Keep on the lookout when completing out nature trail – you never know what you might find! Touring guests and holiday home owners have spotted a range of species, including birds, insects, hedgehogs and even a red squirrel. Make sure you bring some binoculars to give you the best chance of seeing something. Pick up a guide from reception to mark everything you see off our guide. Don’t forget you will receive a free Moss Wood tea towel if you send us 5 photos of wildlife you spot on the park.
    • Are there hairdryers in the amenities block

      Yes, there are hairdryers available for you to use in our amenities block. There are also shaving plugs.
    • Do I need to supply my own wash soap?

      Please supply your own washing detergent and conditioner. If you forget to pack them or get caught out during your stay, you can purchase these in our onsite shop.
    • Do you have to pay to use the showers?

      No, there is no charge to use the showers at Moss Wood Caravan Park. There is hot water available in our amenities block all day.
    • Do you have individual shower rooms?

      Yes, there are individual shower cubicles in our male and female bathrooms.
    • Do you have family bathrooms?

      No, there aren’t any dedicated family bathrooms in our amenities blocks, but there are baby change facilities.
    • Do you have disabled facilities?

      Yes, there are disabled shower and toilet facilities at Moss Wood Caravan Park. Keys to the disabled toilet/shower room will be issued on arrival. A £10 deposit will be required which is refunded on return of the key at the end of the guests’ stay.
    • Is the amenities block open 24 hours?

      Our heated amenities block is open 24 hours a day for your convenience. It is cleaned at regular intervals throughout the day by our team.
    • What facilities do you have for children?

      Moss Wood is a family friendly holiday park. Lots of families choose to stay at our 5-star caravan park each year, thanks to the abundance of things to do both on site and in the local area.

      We have two well-equipped play areas on site, where little ones can play to their heart’s content. Our 4-acre recreational field is perfect for ball games and socialising with new found friends.

      Our rural location lends itself to outdoor activities and enjoying the simple things in life. We have a woodland walk onsite as well as a nature trail where you can search for native wildlife. We’ve installed information boards that you can use to try identify the species you find. Bikes, scooters and skateboards are permitted at the owners discretion and risk.
    • Do you have a shop onsite?

      Yes, we have a well-stocked shop on-site – it is situated within our reception. We sell a range of fresh produce, using local suppliers wherever possible. Lancashire has some fantastic artisan makers, so we like to showcase their wears! For BBQ’s we have delicious bacon and sausages from Hamlets in Garstang. Bread and cakes are supplied by Williams Bakery. Our ice cream is handmade by the team at Cool Cow. If you’re in the mood for a tipple to enjoy as the sun goes down, why not treat yourself to a bottle of Moss Wood’s own label wine or gin? Other treats include Lancashire crisps, jams and chutneys. If you would like a daily newspaper, you will need to pre-order this the day before in reception. They will then be available to collect from our newspaper stand. Please note there is a delivery fee in addition to the cost of the paper.
    • Do you sell gas?

      Gas bottle exchange is available on site. Please pop into reception during your stay to ask for details.
    • Do you have sinks for dishwashing?

      There are plenty of touring facilities at Moss Wood Caravan Park. We have dishwashing facilities outside our amenities block. We kindly ask guests not to take hot water from this area back to their unit.
    • Do you have a bar or restaurant?

      No, we do not have a bar or restaurant at Moss Wood Caravan Park. There is in a well-stocked on-site shop where you can buy a selection of groceries, if you want to cook up a storm during your stay. If you’d prefer to let someone else do the cooking, there are a number of fantastic pubs and restaurants just a short drive from the park.     • How far away is the closest town?

      Both Garstang and Lancaster are about 20 minutes away from Moss Wood. Garstang is a beautiful historic market town with a range of local independent shops. Lancaster is a small city with particular historic significance to both England and Scotland stretching all the way back to Roman times. Today there is a wide range of local attractions to see from the Castle to the beautiful Williamson Park, plus all of the retail and restaurants you would expect to find in any city. The nearest shops to Moss Wood can be found in the village of Pilling, about 10 minutes from the park. Here there is a small supermarket and a Post Office, opposite a Fish & Chip shop and a pub.
    • Can you go on the beach at Silverdale?

      Yes, it is possible to go on the beach at Silverdale. The sandy beach is considerably quieter than neighbouring Blackpool and there are rocky areas to explore at low tide. We encourage visitors to stay away from the sea – where there are strong tides that can make swimming dangerous. The mud flats are extremely wet and it’s possible to get stuck and require emergency assistance. Silverdale is dog friendly year-round.
    • Can you swim in Silverdale?

      We do not recommend going for a swim at Grange-over- Sands near Silverdale. Although it looks tempting, the tide is strong making it unsuitable for swimming. There’s also quite a lot of quicksand, which can be dangerous if you get stuck. We suggest staying close to shore, where there’s dry sand and rock pools to explore.
    • How long does it take to walk Arnside Knott?

      The walk up Arnisde Knott is extremely popular with visitors to the area. The climb is fairly easy going and you’ll be rewarded with far-reaching views at the top. Most people choose the circular route, which is approximately 2 miles and takes around 2 hours to complete.
    • Where is Arnside Knott?

      Arnside Knott is a hill within Arnside and Silverdale Area of Oustanding Beauty (AONB). It stands at 159 metres and can be found south of the Kent Estuary, adjacent to Redhills Wood and Heathwaite, both of which are National Trust reserves. If you’re travelling by car you can park at Arnside Knott car park. The post code is LA5 0BP.
    • When was Arnside Tower Built?

      Arnside Tower was built in the 15th century to protect against the ‘Border Reivers’ – a group of raiders that targeted villages along the Anglo-Scottish border. The tower house design gave additional protection. Much of the tower remains to this day, though it is privately owned and not accessible to the general public. Visitors are encouraged to view the tower from adjacent footpath.
    • Is Arnside in Lancashire or Cumbria?

      Arnside and Silverdale is situated on the border between Lancashire and Cumbria. It is just south of the Lake District close to Morecambe Bay.
    • Is Silverdale in the Lake District?

      Arnside and Silverdale AONB is not in the Lake District. It is situated, just south of the National Park in between Lancaster and Morecambe Bay on the border between Lancashire and Cumbria. It tends to be considerable quieter than the Lake District with fewer crowds.
    • Can you walk across Arnside Viaduct?

      No, walking across Arnside Viaduct is strictly prohibited and trespassers face criminal action and a fixed penalty notice. Local interest groups are campaigning for the installation of a footpath and cycle trail on the Viaduct. This is currently in the consultation phase and may be introduced in the future.
    • Is Arnside beach dog friendly?

      Yes, the beach at Arnside is dog friendly throughout the year. We urge visitors to exercise caution here, especially when the tide is out. Despite the vast stretch of sand, it’s quite easy to get stuck. There’s also a tidal bore that creates a large wave a couple of times per month.
    • Can you swim in the sea at Arnside?

      We do not recommend swimming in the sea at Arnside. The tide is very strong and it can be dangerous, especially when the tidal bore takes place. There is no lifeguard service here.
    • Is Arnside pretty?

      Yes! Arnside and Silverdale is one of the most picturesque regions in the North West, if not the whole of the UK! It has been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) thanks to the variety of landscapes and habitats that can be found within its bounds. Within the 75km2 area you’ll find meadows, ancient woodland, rugged cliffs, coast and unspoilt countryside. This is carefully managed by a dedicated team who aim to protect the landscape for generations to come.
    • What is Arnside and Silverdale famous for?

      Arnside and Silverdale is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), famed for its spectacular scenery, picturesque villages and wide variety of habits. It is haven for wildlife and home to rare species of plants, trees, insects and birds. Wildlife watchers flock to the area to witness migration and seek out butterflies in the spring. It’s also popular with hikers and cyclists.
    • Can you walk on the beach at Arnside?

      It is sometimes possible to walk along the beach at Arnside, if the conditions are right. You must be careful of the sand – it can get extremely wet and it’s possible to get stuck. We recommend walking on the promenade instead, especially if you have younger members of the family in tow. Arnside beach experiences a small tidal wave a couple of times a month. This causes a large and sudden rush of water in the bay. Please listen out for the alarm, which will sound approximately 15 minutes before the wave is due.
    • Is Arnside and Silverdale worth visiting?

      Is Arnside and Silverdale worth visiting? Yes, absolutely! We highly recommend visitors head to Arnside and Silverdale during a stay at Moss Wood Caravan Park. The Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty boasts a variety of scenery and historic towns to discover during your day out. Spend the day exploring the landscape in search of plentiful wildlife, including rare wildflowers, butterflies and birds. If you’re feeling adventurous check out the extensive network of footpaths and cycle trails for all ages and abilities to enjoy. There’s also a fantastic selection of pubs, cafes and restaurants if you fancy dining out during your trip.      
    • Can you swim in the sea at Lytham St Annes?

      St Annes is a popular seaside resort, situated approximately 5 miles from Blackpool. It is known for its vast stretch of golden sand and beachside facilities. There is no lifeguard service at Lytham St Annes, so care should be taken if you decide to take a paddle. Swimming is not recommended near the estuary. The tide goes out a long way and comes in quickly. Make sure you check the tide times and keep an eye on the water – you don’t want to be caught out!
    • Are dogs allowed on Fleetwood beach?

    • Is parking free at Cleveleys?

      There is plenty of parking in Cleveleys. Pay and display parking is available at Derby Road East, Derby Road West, Rough Lea Road, Jubilee Gardens, North Promenade and Princes Way. Free on-street parking is also available.
    • Can you swim at Cleveleys?

      Swimming is possible in the sea at Cleveleys, but please note there is no lifeguard service so care should be taken when entering the water. There is a designated ‘bathing waters’ area next to the stepped sea defences. It is monitored for water quality.
    • Is Cleveleys a sandy beach?

      The beach at Cleveleys is a mixture of sand and shingle.
    • What shops are at Cleveleys?

      There’s a variety of shops to peruse during a day out in Cleveleys with a good mix of independent stores and high street favourites. Shops include New Look, Poundland, M&Co, B&M and M&S food.
    • What day is Cleveleys market open?

      There is a weekly market in Cleveleys. It takes place every Wednesday 9am – 3pm in Cleveleys Community Church Centre. There are a range of food and craft stalls to peruse. Stock up on local produce, children’s books, personalised gifts and more.
    • Is Morecambe on east or west coast?

      Morecambe is a seaside town in Lancashire. It is located on the Southern coast of Morecambe Bay on the North West Coast of England.
    • What sea is in Blackpool?

      Blackpool is a seaside resort on the North West coast of England. The sea here is the Irish Sea.
    • Can you swim at Morecambe?

      Morecambe is a popular beach in the North West, attracting many families each year. It is possible to swim off of Morecambe beach, but please note there is no lifeguard service, so you should take care when entering the water. We always recommend checking the tide times and weather forecast before heading out. The tide along this whole stretch of coast comes in extremely fast, so care should be taken.
    • Is there a beach at Morecambe?

      Yes, there are two beaches in Morecambe – North Beach and South Beach. They’re the ideal setting for a relaxing beach day or coastal walk. The beaches in Morecambe are not patrolled by lifeguards, so please exercise caution if you decide to go for a paddle. Be wary of the conditions and check the tide times before heading out. The tide comes in very quickly here. Dogs are allowed on the beach from 1st October – 30th April. Outside of this time dogs are not permitted. Dogs must be kept on a lead on the promenade.     • Are there toilets at St Annes beach?

      There are public toilets at Lytham St Annes beach. They are situated behind the beach Café, close to the Pier and Promenade Gardens. Please note they are coin operated, so make sure you have some change. The charge is currently 20p and no change is given.

      Dogs are not permitted on St Annes Pier.

      The Forest of Bowland is within easy reach of Moss Wood Caravan Park. There are a number you can take from the park, but we recommend heading to Cockerham on the A588, before picking up the B5272.
    • Is Bentham in the Forest of Bowland?

      Bentham is a small market town, on the northern outskirts of the Forest of Bowland AONB on the edge of the River Wenning. It has a traditional market every Wednesday and is close to the Three Peaks of Ingleborough, Whernside and Pen-y-ghent.
    • What county is the Ribble Valley in?

      The Ribble Valley is the largest district in Lancashire in the North West of England. It is situated in the east of the county, close to the western Pennines and covers an area of approximately 583 square kilometres. The region is mainly rural, though there are some larger towns in the south of the region.

The pass reaches 295 metres above sea level and boasts beautiful views of the remote countryside. It runs from Dunsop Bridge to Marshaw, if you’re travelling a northerly direction and is very steep and narrow. The Trough of Bowland is popular with walkers and cyclists.       The Forest of Bowland is situated in the North of Lancashire, with a small area expanding into North Yorkshire. It occupies around 800 square kilometres and has been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

      The Forest of Bowland is owned by a number of stakeholders. The Queen owns an area of wooded land and the remaining landscape is divided into 3 estates. Some of the area is owned by a water utilities company.
    • Can you drive through the Forest of Bowland?

      Yes, it is possible to drive through the Forest of Bowland. In fact, the area is considered one of the best places for a road trip in the North West of England. There are a variety of roads to explore. The surrounding landscape is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, so you’ll be guaranteed spectacular views in all directions as you drive. We recommend tackling the Witches Driving Trail if you want to drive through the Forest of Bowland. It starts in nearby Pendle and culminates at Lancaster Castle, where the witches were tried. The route is 45 miles long and follows the route the witches would have taken, passing through many places of significance along the way.
    • Why is it called the Forest of Bowland?

      The Forest of Bowland is not a forest in the traditional sense. While there are wooded areas, the name refers to the hunting rights that were bestowed on the area. In medieval times the word ‘forest’ meant ‘royal hunting land’. The King would regularly visit the area to hunt for boar and deer.
    • Is the Forest of Bowland worth visiting?

      We highly recommend visiting the Forest of Bowland during your stay at Moss Wood Caravan Park. It has been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and boasts dramatic scenery, whatever the weather. The name often causes confusion, because there is not an abundance of trees as you would expect! Rather, the area consists of a vast estate made up of farmland, moorland and striking green hills. There is plenty to see and do throughout the year for all the family. It’s popular with cyclists and hikers due to the abundance of trails of varying abilities on offer. There are lots of habitats on offer make it a popular spot for wildlife watching. The Forest of Bowland has Dark Sky Discovery Site status and is one of the best stargazing locations in the North West. If you’d prefer to explore the area at a leisurely pace, you can visit one of the picturesque villages dotted throughout the Trough of Bowland. You’ll find a wide selection of pubs, cafes and restaurants to enjoy.
    • What is near Cockerham Sands?

      Cockerham is a small village, just south of Lancaster. It is sits in picturesque coastal location, where the River Lune meets the Irish sea. Cockerham Sands is ideally placed for exploring some of Lancashire’s best loved towns, villages and attractions. It is just a short drive from Lancaster and Glasson Dock.

      There are some fantastic pubs and restaurants within easy reach of Moss Wood Caravan Park. The closest pub is the Manor Inn in Cockerham. The Patton Arms and Farm Yard Ales microbrewery and tap room are just a short drive away.

      The nearest pharmacy is Kepple Lane Phamacy in Garstang. The address is Kepple Lane, Garstang, Preeston, PR3 1PB. It is open 7 days a week, although reduced opening hours are in place on Sundays.
    • Where is the nearest vets?

      There are a number of vets nearby should your pet require veterinary assistance during your caravan holiday in Lancaster. Lanes Vets is the closest – just 13 minutes’ drive away. It is situated on the Leachfield Industrial Estate, PR3 1PR.

      There is so much to see and do during a holiday in Lancashire. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing break exploring the scenery or an action-packed holiday visiting popular attractions, you certainly won’t be disappointed during your stay. From our fantastic location you can easily explore a range of towns and villages including Fleetwood, Preston, St Annes, Blackpool, Morcambe Bay and Knott End-on sea. Natural beauty spots including the Forest of Bowland, Arnside & Silverdale AONB and Brockholes Nature Reserve are all just a short drive away. Guests can sample a range of activities nearby. We’re perfectly placed for walking holidays with the Lancashire Coastal Way on our doorstep and keen cyclists can take advantage of our proximity to Lancashire and Bay Cycle Way. There are plenty of scenic boat trips in the areas and a wide selection of family friendly and historical attractions. If you’re holidaying on a budget there are plenty of low coast and free things to do in the area. We’re also fortunate to have lots of wet weather attractions closeby.

      If you’re hoping to spend some time at the beach during your caravan holiday at Moss Wood Caravan Park, you’ll be spoilt for choice! There are some spectacular beaches nearby – perfect for relaxing in the sunshine or taking a bracing walk on a crisp autumn day. Cockerham sands is the closest to our park, but there are plenty more just a short drive away. Our 5-star caravan park is located within easy reach of some of the best beaches in the North West, including Morecambe Bay, Cleveleys and Pilling Sands. Blackpool, Fleetwood and St Anne’s are the perfect option if you’re holidaying with children because there are facilities nearby. There are lots of dog friendly beaches in the area too!
    • What are the best walks near Moss Wood?

      Moss Wood is perfectly placed for guests looking to enjoy a walking holiday. Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or just looking to enjoy a couple of leisurely strolls with your four-legged friend, you’ll find something to suit your needs. On-site we have a picturesque woodland walk that cuts through mature forest. It’s only half a kilometre long, making it the perfect choice for a morning dog walk before heading out for the day. We also have a 1.5km nature trail to follow around the park. Little ones will love looking for bugs, butterflies and birds as they complete the route. They can use our information boards to help identify their finds. If you’re looking for something slightly longer, the Lancashire Coastal Way passes near the park. This well-known route is 137 miles long and offers plenty of wildlife watching opportunities and the chance to enjoy some of Lancashire and Cumbrias’s best sights. We recommend splitting it into small sections to enjoy during your stay. The route passes Blackpool, Fleetwood and Cockerham Sands before heading towards Lancaster and Morecambe Bay.
    • Where is the nearest cash machine?

      The local shop at Pilling (4 miles away) is the nearest cash point. You can pay by card at our on-site shop.
    • Where is the nearest supermarket?

      The closest supermarkets are 7.5 miles away in Garstang (Sainsbury's, Booth's & Aldi), although there is also a small local shop in Pilling (4 miles away) and a small shop on the park which sells local produce and some essentials.
    • Where are there places to go out to eat and drink?

      There are a number of country pubs nearby, which offer delicious and varied menus. Garstang and Glasson Dock are both 5 miles away and have a range of places to go for food and drink, while Lancaster is just 8 miles from Moss Wood with a wide choice of restaurants, pubs and bars.     • How far is the beach?

      The closest beaches to Moss Wood are Fluke Hall (6 miles away) and Knott End (8miles). From Knott End you can also get a ferry to Fleetwood, and from Fleetwood you could also get a tram directly to the Promenade at Blackpool.
    • Are there any restrictions on the fishing lake?

      There are a number of fishing rules in place to ensure all guests have an enjoyable experience on the lake. Please fish from the marked pegs only (no reserving of pegs is allowed). Ensure all litter is disposed of in the bins provided. Barb-less hooks only and no keep nets. We kindly ask you to handle fish in a responsible manner. Land fish in a knot free landing net and return to the water in a humane manor.
    • Where is the nearest tackle shop?

      The nearest Garstang Fishing in Garstang if you need to purchase equipment for use on our coarse fishing lake.
    • Can we hire equipment for fishing?

      Unfortunately, we do not have any fishing tackle available to hire or purchase on site. You will need to bring your own fishing gear including rods, reels, tackle and bait with you to use during your stay.
    • How do I gain access to the lake?

      Please pop into reception before 5pm to pick up a gate key and pay. If fishing after 5pm, you will need to return keys to reception at your earliest convenience the next day.
    • Do I need a licence to fish?

      Yes. All anglers over the age of 12 must have a valid Environment Agency Rod Licence. These can be purchased online or in the post office.
    • Can children fish at the lake?

      Absolutely! We encourage children to try fishing during a stay at Moss Wood Caravan Park. Our private fishing lake is the perfect venue to learn new skills and give fishing a go for the first time. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied on the lake by a responsible adult at all times. We encourage you to help young people familiarise themselves with the fishing rules. Please note all children over the ages of 12 must be in procession of a valid Environment Agency Rod Licence.
    • Does the fishing lake have disabled access?

      Yes, it was really important to us to ensure the coarse fishing lake was accessible for all guests. There is a raised platform, which is suitable for wheelchair users. For more information take a look at our access statement.
    • What fish can I expect to catch?

      Our fishing lake is well stocked with a range of species. You can expect to catch carp, roach, tench, bream, perch and rudd.
    • Can local residents/non park guests fish at the lake?

      No. The coarse fishing lake at Moss Wood Caravan Park is for the exclusive use of guests and holiday home owners. Local residents are not permitted to fish.
    • When is the lake open?

      Fishing on the coarse fishing lake at Moss Wood is permitted between 9.30am and 9.30pm or dusk (whichever is sooner).
    • How much does it cost to fish at the lake?

      It costs £5 per 24 hours to fish at our private coarse fishing lake. We have a limited number of season passes available to purchase. These cost £50 and entitle you to free fishing during the week and half price fishing at the weekends. Spectators must pay half of the daily fee.
    • Do you permit any other pets?

      Generally yes, but check with Reception first. Typically this is under the same terms as dogs where allowed.  
    • Do you have a dedicated off lead walk for dogs?

      Dogs can be exercised off lead in our 4-acre recreational field. The field is open and not fenced in, so you will need to keep your dog under close control. Dogs must be kept on a lead on our Woodland Walk.
    • Is there a fee for dogs?

      Yes, there is a free to bring your dogs with you to Moss Wood. Dogs are charged at £2 per pet per night and we allow a maximum of 2 dogs per booking. Every dog owner receives a bone shaped poo bag dispenser at check in included in the fee.
    • How many dogs can I bring with me on holiday?

      We allow 2 dogs per touring pitch and 2 dogs in our privately owned static caravans. Please indicate how many dogs you will be bringing with you at the time of booking.
    • Is Moss Wood Caravan Park dog friendly?

      Yes! We welcome well-behaved dogs to our 5-star caravan park in Lancashire. We were proud finalists in the 2018 Dog Friendly Awards and all of our touring and privately owned holiday homes are dog friendly. Our rural location is the perfect base for a caravan holiday with your four-legged friend. There are some fantastic dog walks in the local area in addition to those that can be accessed directly from the park. There are plenty of dog friendly beaches in Lancashire as well as dog friendly pubs and attractions.
    • Where are dogs allowed on the site?

      Dogs are allowed in all outdoor areas of the site, except for the children’s play areas. Dogs are not permitted in the shop or toilet block and we kindly as you to keep your four-legged friend on a lead at all times. Please make use of the ‘doggy parking’ should you need to pop into the reception or shop. We provide bowls of fresh water as well as bone shaped poo bag dispensers. Please pick up after your dogs and dispose of any waste in the bins provided.
    • Are there dog friendly beaches nearby?

      There are a wide selection of dog friendly beaches within a short drive of the park. In fact, some have won awards for their accessibility and dog friendly facilities. Some are dog friendly year round, while others have restrictions in place for some of the year. Some of our favourite dog friendly beaches include: Cleveleys and St Annes.
    • Does the shop stock dog food?

      Dog food is available to purchase in our on-site shop in case you run out during your stay.
    • Can I cancel or move my booking due to Coronavirus?

      Any bookings due to arrive prior to 1st August 2020 may be cancelled with a full refund or transferred to another available date in 2020 or 2021. Any bookings due to arrive on or after 1st August 2020 may be cancelled with a full refund or transferred to another available date in 2020 or 2021 providing we have a minimum of two weeks notice prior to your scheduled arrival.
    • What steps can I take to protect myself and my family from coronavirus?

      To minimise your chances of catching the coronavirus, there are a number of steps you can take to protect yourself and your family.
      • Always carry tissues with you and use them to catch your cough or sneeze. Bin the tissue and wash your hands regularly and thoroughly with soap and running water
      • Use an alcohol based hand sanitiser that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available
      • Avoid close contact with others if you are experiencing a cough, symptoms of a cold and fever
      • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands
      • Germs can live on some surfaces for hours. Use anti-bacterial spray or wipes when cleaning, especially on frequently touched areas, such as door handles and kitchen surfaces
      • Don't get too close to people coughing, sneezing or with a fever - they can propel small droplets containing the virus into the air. Ideally, keep at least 2m (6ft) away
      Following these steps is the best way to slow the spread of almost any germs, including coronavirus.
